HMI programming

HMI - Human Machine Interface - a little windows PC mounted on a touchscreen

method

  1. calibrate the touchscreen (optional, required for PanaView Plus Performance)
  2. don't load an IP address before loading firmware (it will overwrite it anyway.)
  3. load firmware (PROTIP: load the firmware update on a USB drive; it's easier than downloading it from the internet)

While you're waiting for the firmware to update, connect the PLC and start programming.

After updating the HMI firmware:
PROTIP: use a keyboard for the following steps

  1. set the password
  2. next, FactoryTalk View will pop up
    1. set the IP address of the PLC (see the share drive for a table of standard IP addresses).
    2. set the time and date
    3. set the time zone for the delivery location
    4. exit, enter the default password again to save the settings
  3. Enable the ping response: Settings -> Ping Response (enter default password to confirm).
  4. Enable VNC: Settings -> VNC on (enter default password to confirm).
  5. Enable VNC control
    1. enter a password for VNC control
    2. enter the default password to save the password
  6. Restart (enter default password to confirm)
  7. Once the restart is complete, Upload the RunTime File; The completed program will run on the HMI and define responses to user input.
    1. using the transfer utility select the RunTime File you want, then select the HMI on the ethernet tree as the target.
    2. Once downloaded, the HMI should reboot and load the GUI specified in the RunTime File.
